As Ireland endure a hospital crisis of extreme proportions, it is evident that the NHS in England is not much better, despite Theresa May’s objections.
Rose Newman, mother of Jack (22 months) said she waited with him in A&E for five hours, without any sort of a bed, while he suffered with suspected meningitis. The distressed baby lay strewn helplessly across two plastic chairs with a blanket underneath him.
The pair had been directed to the hospital from a walk-in clinic who were very concerned for the tot and said that he required somewhere with better facilities.
The East Sussex Conquest Hospital was said to be a picture of complete chaos with overworked staff struggling to cope.
Ms Newman tried desperately to find someone to help faster, but the children’s ward was completely full. Hours later a doctor was available to treat Jack on the spot, and managed to reduce his temperature.
Fortunately, the meningitis fears were mitigated and Jack and his mother were able to go home in the early hours of the morning.
However, Ms Newman has not taken the horrendous ordeal lightly and is now calling for Theresa May to take urgent action with the NHS.
The Prime Minister has denied that there is a hospital crisis, a view that has caused outrage in the country and within the government.
