A British couple holidaying in the Spanish resort of Mallorca have been arrested and charged with child abandonment after they left their young children unattended at a hotel.
According to The Olive Express newspaper, the couple who are from Scotland were arrested after the young children aged 11 and 4 were left on their own in the Palma Bay Hotel.
It is alleged the couple who have since maintained their innocence, left the young children on their own in order to go out drinking.
Although the parents who have since been charged with child abandonment, claimed they left their children under the care of another British couple at the resort whilst they went out, police have since launched an investigation and removed the two children from the couple’s custody after they were discovered on their own.
The paper also reports that the parents who are currently awaiting a court hearing, were informed a number of times not to leave their children unattended at the popular resort as it is against the law to leave minors on their own.
