Shocking: Dublin school issues warning to students and parents after an attempted abduction outside its gates

A Dublin school has issued a warning to its pupils and their parents to be on high after an attempted abduction outside its gates.

The warning comes after the Gardaí were alerted to an attempted abduction of a student on Monday morning near the school premises. It is understood that an investigation is ongoing regarding the incident, but the school has since issued an official statement for students and parents to be on alert. The statement which was issued by the school principal of Oatlands College in Mount Merrion, Caroline Garrett, reads: ‘Oatlands College is carrying out an investigation into an alleged abduction incident on Monday morning, 25th January 2016 approximately 50 metres from the school entrance. The matter has been reported to the gardaí, and investigations are ongoing into this alleged incident,’ Mummypages reports. Ms Garrett wrote school authorities are now liaising with the gardaí following the report.’

‘The school operates a Stay Safe policy and assures the school community that this is fully operational at all times and, in particular, is in place to respond to the alleged incident. Parents are encouraged to make contact with the School Principal if they have any immediate or individual concerns,’ Ms Garrett said.’

Meanwhile a Garda spokesperson has said they are currently investigating the alleged incident and have warned students to be extra vigilant and if they are approached by someone who they think maybe acting suspicious, to contact the Gardaí immediately.
