Shocking: Non-verbal 5-yr-old boy with autism is strapped to a chair by his waist and ankles in school

The relevant authorities in Northern Ireland have confirmed that an investigation is underway after it is alleged that a five-year-old boy with autism was unnecessarily strapped to a chair in a school.

According to Belfast Live, the incident which 10 months ago is under review after the boy’s parents made a complaint against the school.

It is alleged that the young boy who his non-verbal was strapped to the chair by his waist and his ankles as other children played freely around him.

The shocking incident was uncovered after his parents saw photographs from his school class scrapbook.

The boy’s parents who have been left angry and upset, told Belfast Live, that their son was left deeply agitated and distressed following the incident.

The paper also states that the incident was reported to social services by the boy’s parents and that a police investigation is currently ongoing.

However upon initial contact with the school, staff at the school informed the boy’s parents that they wanted to keep the boy safe without offering any explanation.
