A major health and safety inspection and investigation is being carried out after human waste was found in drinks cans delivered to a Coca Cola factory in Northern Ireland.
The Coca Cola plant at Knockmore, near Lisburn in Co Antrim, was put to a complete standstill for at least 15 hours last week when production machinery became clogged and workers discovered what looked like human waste which came from Germany.
The company say that the issue does not affect any products currently on sale.
A spokesperson for Coca Cola said they are treating the discovery as extremely serious:
“The problem was identified immediately through our robust quality procedures and all of the product from the affected batch was immediately impounded and will not be sold,” they said.
“This is an isolated incident and does not affect any products currently on sale” .
