A shop owner ran off with a customer’s winning scratchcard, worth €500,000.
The bizarre incident happened in Naples, Italy, in recent days.
It is understood that a female customer handed the card to a member of staff at the shop. The staff member then passed the card on to a manager, who promptly took off in his scooter.
Local authorities later caught the shop owner as he attempted to board a plane to Spain.
The winning card has not yet been located, but authorities have frozen the entire set of card numbers delivered to that particular shop, so the card cannot be cashed.
