A Gardai Armed Support Unit was in pursuit of a vehicle earlier today when they were fired upon.
The incident happened at approximately 1am at Clonmoyle, Rathangan, Co. Kildare. Gardai did not return fire, and continued in pursuit. The two male occupants of the car, both in their 20s, were arrested a short distance away. Nobody was injured in the incident, and a firearm was recovered at the scene.
The area has been preserved for a technical examination, and local diversions are in place.
