The ongoing crime situation in London took yet another dark turn as a 98-year-old has been left fighting for his life in hospital after he attacked in his own home.
According to Sky News, Peter Gouldstone has been left in critical condition with two bleeds on his brain after he was found semi conscious at his home in Evesham Road, Enfield, North London on Tuesday morning.
It is reported that Mr Gouldstone was found by his son Simon after a neighbour notified him that the backdoor at his father’s home was left open.
After arriving at the house Simon found his father lying on the floor in a semi conscious state after the house was ransacked.
Police investigating the incident say they have found evidence of a disturbance at the premises and a number of valuable items have been stolen including a Panasonic Television and personal belongings.
It is understood that Mr Gouldstone was rushed to an East London hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition.
Officers investigating the case have called the incident a brutal and senseless act, and believe the assault have occured within a 20 hour window before Mr Gouldstone was discovered.
