Sigh of relief: Tesco Ireland say staff will be unaffected by the companies decision to cut over a thousand jobs in the UK

Staff at one of the country’s biggest supermarket chains can breathe a sigh of relief this morning as management at Tesco Ireland have confirmed that there will be no job cuts in the Republic of Ireland.

The welcome news comes after staff at the retailer were left in limbo after the company announced that they were to cut 1,700 jobs in total.

In a move which will see the brand being restructured, Tesco say the job cuts will streamline the companies business as it will provide a more simple and helpful experience for both staff and consumers.

Tesco say the cuts will see it’s UK stores being relieved of ‘people managers’, ‘compliance managers’ and ‘customer experience managers’.

The move which had seemingly worried staff members at Irish stores, will only apply to those working at its UK stores and those working at their Irish chain will remain unaffected.
