
Numerous traffic incidents on the M6 have been handled by emergency personnel and the GardaĆ, reports RTE.
Slushy roads, pouring precipitation, and low visibility have made driving on the freeway dangerous.
While a car went off the road on the westbound side in the same vicinity, an incident involving a car and a pickup truck has been resolved on the eastbound side of the route close to Tyrrellspass, reports RTE.
An update from Limerick Council’s snow removal staff throughout Treaty County has been provided.
It stated that ploughing is now taking place on the N69 between Askeaton and Ferrybridge.
Because there is “lots of snow lodging” on the regional route between Shanagolden and Ardaghas, the council has cautioned drivers to exercise caution, reports RTE.
Drivers are advised to use an alternate route because of the “large build-up of snow and almost impossible to drive” on the Glin to Athea road, according to the council.
Additionally, because of a significant snow accumulation, drivers are recommended to avoid the Ardagh to Athea route through Carrigkerry.
According to an update from Iarnród Ćireann, a number of level crossings have been locked, causing services between Mallow and Charleville to be halted until further notice, reports RTE.
According to the train’s operator, employees are “finding it difficult to attend due to extremely poor road conditions”
The Heuston to Cork service at 1pm will continue to operate out of Charleville, reports RTE.
Because of the frozen and “unable to move” level crossing gates at Buttevant, Iarnród Ćireann said that the 1pm Heuston to Cork train will now return to the platform at Charleville.
It stated that its employees are trying to resolve the issue.
Iarnród Ćireann said that a weather-related signalling problem caused the 2.25 p.m. Cork to Heuston train to leave Charleville approximately 45 minutes later than scheduled, reports RTE.
One lane of traffic has been and “will be for some time” on the N22 between Farranfore and Killarney, according to Kerry County Council.
According to the council, fresh ploughs “are on the way” and a grader is presently repairing the road.
However, it also stated that it is “difficult to clear two lanes” because of the volume of vehicles on the route, reports RTE.
