Minister for Health Simon Harris has announced free GP care for children aged 12 and under.
The new scheme will be implemented on a phased basis, with children aged six and seven being the first to be entitled to free GP care.
According to the minister, the new scheme ‘is a key step towards ensuring cost is no longer a barrier to accessing the appropriate healthcare when and where children require it.’
