Simon Harris brags Irish govt is giving another €20 million of Irish taxpayer’s money for aid in the Middle East

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which aids individuals in Gaza, the West Bank, and Palestine refugees throughout the Middle East, has received an additional €20 million in funding from Ireland, according to Tánaiste Simon Harris, reports Breaking News.

With at least 47,540 people dead and over 111,000 injured—mostly women and children—the humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire, according to the government.

Ireland has backed appeals for the return of all prisoners to their families and has warmly welcomed the ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza. They stated the ceasefire and hostage release agreement must be carried out in its entirety, reports Breaking News.

Since the start of 2023, Ireland has contributed more over €63 million to aid the Palestinian people.

Assistance of more than €51 million has been given since October 2023. The money has improved health and education systems, bolstered the humanitarian response, and safeguarded human rights in the area, reports Breaking News.

“The ceasefire and hostage release deal offers a moment of hope for Palestinians and Israelis,” the Tánaiste, who is also the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, said as he announced the funds.

The announcement underscores Ireland’s commitment to ensuring there is a significant surge in humanitarian aid into Gaza at this critical time. There is no replacement for the work of UNRWA and it is vital that it is supported. UNRWA delivered more than 60 per cent of the supplies that entered Gaza in the first days of the ceasefire,” reports Breaking News.

“It is the only organisation with the scale to deliver and support the restoration of health, social services, and education for more than 300,000 children in Gaza. I am gravely concerned about Israeli legislation on UNRWA which entered into force on January 30th. I urge Israel to reconsider these measures and encourage other Governments to support UNRWA with funding at this most critical time so that it can deliver for the millions of Palestinian refugees in need,” reports Breaking News.

According to Defence Minister Israel Katz, nations who have opposed the military operations in Gaza, including as Norway, Spain, and Ireland, have to accept Palestinians; else, “their hypocrisy will be exposed.”

In keeping with President Donald Trump’s strategy for the war-torn region, Mr. Katz stated that he had given the army instructions to make arrangements for a significant number of Palestinians to evacuate the Gaza Strip, reports Breaking News.

The proposal “will include options for exit at land crossings as well as special arrangements for exit by sea and air,” Mr. Katz stated on Thursday.

President Trump’s “bold plan, which could allow a large population in Gaza to leave for various places in the world,” he said, was something he embraced, reports Breaking News.
