The Health Minister Simon Harris has long since battled against anti vaccination campaigners as he plans to roll out HPV testing later this year.
Anti-Vax campaigners claim that the “controversial HPV vaccine” is exceptionally dangerous to young people, particularly young girls with claims of leaving some severely disabled after receiving it.
Others think the vaccine works and helps prevent cervical cancer.
Either way, it was due to be introduced in September, but got delayed due to the backlog in the number of smear tests.
The new HPV test is said to be the primary screening method for the prevention of cervical cancer . It’s understood that Harris thinks that cervical cancer will be a rarity after the new testing.
