A single mother who is expecting twins next month has spoken about the terrible conditions in the what has been described as a “nightmare of a flat” where she lives with her seven-year-old son in Cork city.
According to Cork Beo, 35-year-old Alina Marinescu said that she has not been able to sleep as her bathroom ceiling collapsed, sending dirty water flooding in her home. She and her son Tian had to use the garden as a toilet and said that she has been trying to find somewhere else to live but hasn’t had any success.
Alina told the Irish Mirror, “The smell has taken over our apartment, and it’s made its way to the corridor. Some nights, I can’t sleep and wish we could sleep outside. But it’s cold, and freezing, and I’m pregnant.”
