Sinn Fein’s Michelle O’Neill lays out her hopes for a United Ireland which would allow Unionists to keep their identity

Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister, Sinn Fein’s Michelle O’Neill was interviewed on Friday night’s Late Late Show.

Host Ryan Tubridy was quite stern with his questioning, but O’Neill answering his direct questions quite convincingly, including talking about vaccines, health service, her relationship with the DUP’s Arlene Foster and what her vision is for a United Ireland.

Tubridy was blatantly harsh in his tone and not like his usual sycophantic self to the lovies he normally has on, but the North’s Sinn Fein leader didn’t rise to his passive aggression.

Pushed on her attendance of the funeral of Bobby Storey, she said that she would do things differently and apologised to those who didn’t get to attend a funeral due to the restrictions.

Michelle O’Neill said that she would welcome a round-the-table discussion with all perspectives being discussed including those of republican and unionist dispositions.

She said that she would like the Irish tricolour to remain and that Unionists would keep their identity should a United Ireland come to pass.

Speaking of her condolences of The Queen, Michelle O’Neill said that she had met Queen Elizabeth and said that she was a pleasant lady. She said that it was an important thing to do for Unionists in Northern Ireland to hear her say that and also that she felt sorry for The Queen herself over the passing of her husband Prince Philip.
