Sixth man gets charged with violent disorder and assault in Quham Babatunde case

Two charges of assault and violent disorder have been brought against a sixth man who was detained during the Dublin inquiry into Quham Babatunde’s killing, reports Breaking News.

On February 15, at approximately three in the morning, Mr. Babatunde, a 34-year-old Nigerian, was stabbed on Anne Street South in the city centre and died.

It happened when a fight broke out between partygoers exiting a Valentine’s Day night music event, reports Breaking News.

When the Gardaí discovered him unconscious, they took him to St. James’s Street Hospital, where he died shortly after.

Following his arrest on Thursday, gardaí accused 23-year-old John Eghomwanre of Dun Emer Glade, Lusk, Co. Dublin, with three crimes on Friday, reports Breaking News.

Garda Grainne Collier provided proof of arrest, charge, and caution while he was being kept by the gardaí until he appeared before Judge Michele Finan at Dublin District Court.

Defence attorney Luke O’Higgins, under the direction of attorney Evan Moore, stated during the brief hearing that his client, who has not yet entered a plea, was not requesting bail at this time, reports Breaking News.

At Duke Lane, Mr. Eghomwanre is charged with violent disorder and assault causing harm to Mr. Babatunde Anne Street South and his companion Adetola Adetuilehim.

He was remanded in jail to appear at Cloverhill District Court on March 11th after Judge Finan awarded legal assistance, reports Breaking News.

The Director of Public Prosecutions must provide instructions to the Gardai, and if the defence wants to request bail, they must notify the prosecution 48 hours in advance, reports Breaking News.

While awaiting his application for international protection, Mr. Babatunde has been residing at the Ballyogan housing complex in south Dublin.

Five other persons have previously appeared in court on accusations related to his death or the activities that took place in the vicinity that evening, reports Breaking News.

They are still being held on remand.

After boarding a ship to England, Ryan Ndede, 23, of Boroimhe Birches, Swords, Co Dublin, was taken into custody by the PSNI in Belfast. When he showed up in Belfast Magistrate’s Court on February 21st, he was arrested and charged with the killing of Quham Babatunde, reports Breaking News.

On related accusations, the other four have appeared in Dublin District Court.

At Anne Street South, Rory Carr, 21, of Ard na Greine, Seapoint Lane, Balbriggan, was charged with violent disorder and assault causing hurt to Mr. Babatunde and Adetuilehim, reports Breaking News.

The charges against Jeffrey Bangu, 21, of Cardy Rock Crescent, Balbriggan, were assault causing harm to Adetuilehim at Anne Street South and assault causing harm to Mr. Babatunde at Duke Lane.

He is also charged with producing a knife during the encounter and violent disorder, reports Breaking News.

At Anne Street South, 23-year-old Sean Forde, who lived at Bath Road, Balbriggan, County Dublin, was accused of violent disorder.

At Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Bakuani Diavisi, 25, of Cardy Rock, Balbriggan, Co Dublin, was charged with assault causing hurt to another man on the same day, reports Breaking News.
