Sky Sports have officially confirmed that pundit and former Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher has been suspended from his role with the broadcaster.

In announcement made on Monday sky said the following: “Sky takes this matter extremely seriously and strongly condemns Jamie’s actions, we have made that clear to him in person today and suspended him from his duties.”

“It falls well below the standards we expect of our people.”

Carragher who could yet still be sacked from the broadcaster, has been suspended indefinitely by the company after he was caught spitting at a 14 year old girl.

Although the former footballer has issued a number of apologies since the incident on Saturday, Sky have decided to relieve the pundit from his duties for the foreseeable future.

Carragher was condemned by many on social media after he was caught on camera spitting towards a Manchester United fan who was driving his daughter home following their 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

In the footage Carragher is seen spitting towards the fan’s car after the man taunted him about the result, however the innocent 14 year old who was sitting the front passenger seat was the victim as Carragher’s saliva landed on her face.

Carragher who has since apologised via twitter, has said his actions were completely unacceptable and that he should not have done it.
