Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow and ice warning for several counties, while at least 1,000 homes are without power after Storm Bella belted through the country last night.
Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo are exposed to icy conditions on untreated surfaces with winter rains and some possible accumulations of substantial snow and ice.
The warning lasts until 7:00am of tomorrow and will possibly go on to lunchtime.
A yellow wind condition warning has also been issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry. It is valid until 2 p.m. of tomorrow.
Northwest winds associated with Storm Bella will reach speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h with gusts of 90km/h to 110km/h. Winds are stronger in exposed areas and at higher levels.
People are asked to share this information with their friends, especially those who’ll be out walking or driving.
