Snow will help us celebrate the start of the new year

2017 is set to start very cold indeed, with snowfalls predicted for the north and east of the country, mainly on high ground.

But there will be plenty rain before that, so the snow will likely not stick around for long.

Today, Thursday, is set to start dull and cloudy, with rain developing later on. The rain will persist through Friday, with rather mild temperatures for this time of year.

It will turn much colder towards New Year’s Eve.
