Due to the impending June bank holiday, social assistance claimants have been advised to be aware of a change in this week’s payment, reports The Mirror.
The public holiday on Monday, June 3rd, means that all banks and post offices will be closed from Sunday through Tuesday.
All welfare and pension payments that were supposed to be made on Monday, June 3 at a post office or into a bank account will now be made on Friday, May 31, reports The Mirror.
In the event that your cheque is generally paid on Monday, June 3rd, it will be sent out one day early, so you could receive it on Friday.
As previously reported by recipients, parents may get their €140 monthly payment on Friday or Saturday; however, those receiving the child benefit payment, which is due on Tuesday, June 4, should not be impacted.
A spokesperson for the Department of Social Protection said: “Monday 3 June is a Bank Holiday and as a result, any social welfare payments due to be in your account on Monday 3 June will now be paid on Friday 31 May instead. Payments will be paid as normal on Tuesday 4 June. All Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 3 June. Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will reopen on Tuesday 4 June,” reports The Mirror.
