Social welfare recipients will see Budget 2020 payment increases from this week onwards




There is some good news for those who are in receipt of social welfare payments as increased payments promised during Budget 2020 will begin this week.

Although not everyone is expected to receive an increase those living alone, jobseekers and parents will see an increase from this week onwards.

Under the new proposals the Living Alone Allowance will increase by €5 to €14 for pensioners and people with disabilities.

Meanwhile those aged 25 and over who are living independently will receive the full rate of jobseekers allowance.

Parents will also receive a boost as there will be a €3 increase in weekly payments for qualified child dependants aged 12 and a €2 increase in weekly payments for child dependents up to the age of 12.

Working Family Payment thresholds will be increases by €10 per week for families with one or more children, whilst lone parents in receipt of One-Parent Family Payment or Jobseeker’s Transition Payment will see a €15 increase in their payments.
