With UK lorry drivers as rare as hen’s teeth and drivers being offered £50,000 salaries, the pressure is on supermarket supply chains to keep fresh food on their shelves.

Whilst some types of fresh food are in short supply there seems to be no shortage of long expiry date items such as bottled sauces, salad creams and even deodorants.

As outlined in the Metro, customers spotted a huge display of sunflower oil at the end of a frozen food aisle at Tesco Extra in Cardiff.
Fruit and vegetables buckets were filled with large bags of Quality Street, Celebrations and Heroes chocolates at Co-op. The retailer placed salad cream and HP Sauce in refrigerated display cabinets.
