Spanish student (20s) sadly dies and two others seriously injured in Waterford crash

A young Spanish man in his 20s has died and two others have sustained serious injuries after a road crash on the outskirts of Waterford City on Saturday afternoon, reports Breaking News.

Emergency responders and gardaí were called to the scene of the accident, which happened around 2.20pm on the old Tramore Road (L1020). Reports indicate the car carrying the three individuals collided with a tree.

Two of the occupants, both also in their 20s, are currently being treated in hospital for their injuries, reports Breaking News.

It is believed the Spanish man who died had been sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.

Gardaí confirmed the incident through an official statement and issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward, reports Breaking News.

The car’s driver and another passenger, both men in their 20s, were taken to University Hospital Waterford with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A forensic collision investigation has been carried out by Gardaí, and the road is now back open, reports Breaking News.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or have relevant footage to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 2:00pm and 2:45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,” the statement added, reports Breaking News.

Those with information are asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
