The nations biggest youth detention centre St. Patrick’s Institution will officially close its doors later today.
The closure of the centre which has housed children who were found guilty of criminal offences was announced last week by the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice Francis Fitzgerald.
After its closure all those under the age of 17 who committed criminal offences will be sent to Oberstown Detention Centre.
