Staff save a baby’s life at a pharmacy in Dublin

babhand

A baby boy is alive today thanks to the brave efforts of quick-thinking staff, who gave him emergency CPR when he stopped breathing outside a Dublin pharmacy yesterday.

In a serendipitous chain of events, both staff who rushed to aid the baby had specific training in infant resuscitation, and in a further stroke of luck, a nurse also experienced in infant care happened to be walking by the pharmacy door as the events unfolded.

As staff from the Haven pharmacy in Killiney worked on the baby, the nurse called for emergency assistance and was able to request specific equipment to deal with the situation. Paramedics soon arrived and took the baby into Crumlin hospital.
