Starbucks said it will cover travel expenses for US employees to access abortion and so-called “gender confirmation procedures” if those services are not available within 100 miles of a worker’s home.
The Seattle coffee company said it will also make the travel benefit available to family members of employees who are enrolled in the Starbucks health plan. Starbucks has 240,000 employees in the United States; It wasn’t immediately clear what percentage of them are enrolled in the company’s healthcare plan.
Starbucks is one of the most famous companies to introduce a travel benefit after a preliminary Supreme Court ruling that would nullify the nation’s abortion rights was leaked.
Many Pro Life supporters say that they’ll never shop at the coffee shop again as a result of their pro abortion stance.
