A Status Orange weather warning is in place until midnight tonight amid freezing fog and low temperatures.
The warning affects the whole of Connacht and counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, and Tipperary.
According to the national forecaster, freezing fog will linger for most of the day, leading to hazardous driving conditions.
