The national forecaster has issued a Status Yellow Weather warning covering Christmas Day, due to expected strong winds and heavy rain.
A wind warning will kick in at midnight tonight for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo, and will remain in place until 8pm on Christmas Day.
Meanwhile, a rain warning will be in place from 9am on Christmas Eve to 9am on Christmas Day, in counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Localised flooding is likely in low-lying areas. Some snowfalls are possible in coastal counties.
