Stephen Kenny remains confident for Republic of Ireland team’s future – possibly wants to remain in the role

Stephen Kenny is confident the Foundation is set for a bright future for Ireland, despite their disappointing Euro 2024 campaign ending in failure in the Netherlands, reports Breaking News.

Ireland knew before kick-off at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena that they would not be in next year’s finals after false hopes of securing a play-off place finally vanished.

They hoped to finish with a famous win over Ronald Koeman’s men, but ended up losing 1-0 in what could have been, and perhaps should have been, far more important, reports Breaking News.

However, asked if he was still confident that there was a solid foundation after three-and-a-half years in charge, which saw a major change in the squad, a defiant Kenny replied: “Yes, without doubt there is,” reports Breaking News.

“What was the alternative? If you can tell me… Over the years, a lot of our players have moved down the divisions, so absolutely. These are the best players that Ireland have now,” reports Breaking News.
