“Stop taking them in, there’s no more room” – Mixed reactions to the government announcing Irish people on social welfare can earn rent up to €14,000 without their allowance affected to help Ukrainians get housed

People on social media have been lamenting latest in just a long list of ludicrous ideas this government has initiated since taking Office.

People are saying that we should stop taking Ukrainians into the country because there quite simply isn’t’ enough room for any more and that the government are trying to bribe people to take them into their house.

As the government struggle to get Ukrainians housed across the country, they’ve come up with a new incentive that will see people on social welfare with a house, room or any other form accommodation to rent, be allowed to keep up to €14,000 per year without it affecting their social welfare payments.

The move is a direct effort to try and get more Irish people to open up their doors to allow Ukrainians stay with them.

It’s understood the government thinks it will see more elderly people open their doors to Ukrainians over the coming weeks as thousands and thousands more are expected to flood into the country.
