Saturday already proved how stormy the weekend is going to be with winds gusting and blasting coastal areas.

The National weather forecaster has now issued a status Orange weather warning for the entire country after raising it from status yellow.

Weather forecasters have issued warnings of dire weather conditions over the next 72 hours, as Storm Ciara arrives with snow, hail, and winds of up to 110km/h.

Two nationwide Status Yellow weather warnings will come into effect on Saturday across Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Forecasters also warned of the likelihood of coastal flooding due to the combination of Spring tides and heavy rain, particularly along southern, western and northwestern coasts.

Conditions are set to deteriorate significantly by Saturday evening however, leading into a very wet and windy Sunday.

The start of next week is not looking any better either, with very cold and wet weather predicted.

People are advised to be extremely careful while out on coastal areas or on motorways that have crosswinds. Authorities say people should be vigilant when out and about in Storm Ciara with people being asked to share this information with their friends.
