Storm update: Met Eireann warns of dire weather conditions ahead, as Storm Ciara arrives with snow, hail, and winds of up to 110km/h

The national forecaster is warning of dire weather conditions over the next 72 hours, as Storm Ciara arrives with snow, hail, and winds of up to 110km/h.

Two nationwide Status Yellow weather warnings will come into effect on Saturday.

Met Eireann has also warned of the likelihood of coastal flooding due to the combination of Spring tides and heavy rain, particularly along southern, western and northwestern coasts.

Today, Friday, will remain relatively calm, with showery rain later in the day. Conditions will deteriorate significantly by Saturday evening however, leading into a very wet and windy Sunday.

The start of next week is not looking any better either, with very cold and wet weather predicted.
