Summer scorcher: Ireland experienced its hottest day of the year as temperatures reached a sizzling 27.5C

In case you don’t know Ireland is currently at the beginning of a heatwave that could very well see the hottest ever temperature ever on the island since 1887, but as the country prepares to bask in sweltering conditions, forecasters have confirmed that the country has experienced it’s warmest day of 2018.

According to Met Eireann, the country has already experienced it’s hottest day of the year after temperatures topped a sizzling 27C.

Although the mercury is expected to soar even higher in the coming days, it has been confirmed that Oak Park in Co Carlow was the hottest place in Ireland on Monday with temperatures reaching 27.5C.

Meanwhile both the Phoenix Park in Dublin and Shannon Airport recorded temperatures of 25C on Monday afternoon.

However the recent high reported in Co Carlow could become a temperature that the rest of the country will see in the coming days as the latest heatwave is set to even soar higher.

Met Eireann who have already issued a yellow status heat warning, say the country could record it’s highest ever temperature in over 40 years as temperatures are expected to top 30C.
