Sunshine and heavy showers today, and a week of unsettled weather ahead, with below average daytime temperatures and cold nights

Today, Bank Holiday Monday, will be rather wet in parts, with heavy showers and sunshine at times, and overall temperatures hovering around the 16-17C mark.

Met Eireann says that the coming days will likely see an unsettled weather pattern, with showers, sunshine, and temperatures below average for the time of year.

The overall outlook is for a week of heavy showers mixed with periods of sunshine, with daytime temperatures never rising beyond the 15C mark, and falling to about 5-6C after dark.

Early indications show a low pressure system moving in on Friday, which would mean more wet weather during the weekend.
