A Christmas snack sold in SuperValu has been recalled, with consumers being warned not to consume it.
Specific batches of Le Paysan Smoked Salmon Pate and Le Paysan Smoked Mackerel Pate have been withdrawn due to the presence of sulphur dioxide, which is not listed among the ingredients, reports Breaking News.
Milk is also not highlighted in the ingredients list.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said this could make the affected batches unsafe for people who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide and/or milk, reports Breaking News.
The FSAI advised that consumers should not eat the affected batches.
Sulphur dioxide and sulphites are classified as allergens and can trigger reactions in some individuals, particularly those with asthma sensitivity, reports Breaking News.
For prepacked foods, the FSAI said their presence in food or drink must be clearly stated on the label by their full name where levels exceed 10 mg/kg.
