Reports of potential fraud in the U.S Presidential election have already prompted a state-wide investigation in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

2,500 voter registration and mail-in ballot applications were flagged last month as potentially fraudulent and prompted a county and state-wide investigation, Lancaster County Commissioner Ray D’Agostino has announced.

Of the 2,500 flagged applications 57% majority had been confirmed as valid, and 17% were confirmed to be fraudulent, D’Agostino said.
The remaining 26% of voter registration applications and mail-in ballot applications are either incomplete or unverified, he said, and remain under investigation Fox News reported. As the U.S undergoes possibly the most contentious Presidential election since the eve of its civil war, concerns about potential fraud are abundant.

The Democratic Party in the U.S has sought to prevent any legislation requiring voter ID before polling and has been successful in most states. The Democrats have also fought against Republican efforts to remove non-citizens from voting rolls, recently losing one such high profile court case in Virginia.
