Systems malfunction at Gatwick Airport forced the suspension of all flight operations on Wednesday evening

A systems malfunction at the control tower in Gatwick Airport caused the temporary suspension of all flight operations at the facility earlier this evening.

No flights were able to land or take off from Gatwick between 5 and 7pm, forcing the diversion of a number of aircraft to alternative destinations.

Service was restored shortly after 7pm, but some knock-on delays occurred throughout the evening.
