Taking our flag back! Dublin City Council under major pressure over demands to remove the Irish tricolour from around Dublin city as patriots continue to put them up everywhere

Dublin City Council is said to be grappling with the wonderful display of Irish tricolour flags across the capital, which they claim is part of an anti-immigration campaign.

It sounds farcical, but they actually think it’s to mark out our territory.

The flags, appearing on lampposts in areas such as Ballyfermot, Coolock, Finglas, and the north and south inner city, have sparked concerns from lefties who view the practice as an attempt to intimidate and “mark territory.”

Labour Councillor Darragh Moriarty has called for decisive action, describing the display as a “weaponisation of the tricolour” by far-right groups. In a statement to RTÉ News, the council confirmed it is “considering an appropriate response” and engaging with stakeholders, noting that erecting flags on public lampposts without permission from the Public Lighting Services is prohibited. However, the absence of explicit regulations on flying the national flag complicates enforcement, as similar displays are common during events like the Olympics.

Meanwhile, many decent people around Ireland, including Councillors Malachy Steenson and Gavin Pepper are supporting the tricolour being flown in the city and indeed around the country.

They say that this is Ireland’s national flag and that we should be proud of our flag and country and that it should be flown up and down the country.
