Talks to avert scheduled pilots strike at Ryanair to get underway later today

Talks between union representatives and management at Ryanair are to get underway later today in a bid to avert strike scheduled for next week.

The talks come after members from the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action last week.

It is believed that union members are seeking improved pay and better conditions.

Union representatives have revealed that the proposals submitted to airline company are requesting pay and pension improvements that would effectively be aligned with industry norms.

Although Ryanair have yet to submit an offer, it is hoped that negotiations will bring an end to any potential strike action.

However union representatives have stated that a significant and substantial offer would have to be made in order to halt industrial action.
