Free GP care will be extended to seven and eight year old’s next year the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed.
Speaking at the Irish Congress of Trade Unions biennial conference, Mr Varadkar said the extension comes as part of the Government’s three year plan to extend free GP care to all children under the age of 12.
The Taoiseach who also confirmed that prescription charges will be reduced next year, told the conference that the Government is committed to providing free health care to all young children by 2021.
Meanwhile the Taoiseach told the conference that other plans such as jobseekers benefit for the self employed and extended paternity leave are on track to be implemented later this year.
