Taoiseach: “I don’t have to answer to Nigel Farage and I have nothing to apologise for”

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that he does not have to answer to UK politician Nigel Farage.

Mr Kenny’s comments come as he is currently on a week long visit to the US to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Speaking to reporters Mr Kenny claimed that he didn’t have to respond to the UKIP MP and he has noting to apologise for.

The war of words comes after Mr Farage who is good friends with US President Donald Trump claimed the Taoiseach should apologise for his remarks last year when he described the new US president as a racist.

However Mr Kenny has now claimed he didn’t call President Trump a racist but instead referred to his use of racist language.

Speaking last night Mr Kenny said: “I’m responding to an invitation sent by the president of the United States and I’m happy to go to the White House to continue the traditional connection between Ireland and the United States, symbolising the contribution Irish people have made over many centuries and the fact that we want to continue with that.”

“I’ve nothing further to say in respect of comments made by Mr Farage.”
