The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has confirmed that a ban on the burning of turf will not be introduced this year.
Speaking in the Dail, Martin said there are no plans to introduce a ban in 2022, although a ban on smokey coal will be in place later this year.
The Taoiseach was responding to criticism from opposition TD’s who have called on the Government to halt plans to introduce the much debated carbon tax.
