The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the Government will not be considering the re-introduction of water charges.
Speaking following the OECD’s report on the country’s environmental future, the Taoiseach said the Government will not re-introduce the charges.
Martin said the Government already invests heavily on Ireland’s water infrastructure and there are no plans for charges.
He added that the Government will continue to invest in water.
The Taoiseach’s comments come after the OECD recommended that the Government should consider the re-introduction of the charges as the cost of improving Ireland’s supply will need significant investment.
