Taoiseach says there now is no guarantee the government will reopen the country as planned next Friday

The government say that they’re not going to press the panic button, but alas it would seem as though the extent of what restrictions, if any, will be lifted next Friday is now very much in doubt.

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has painted a very bleak picture in relation to Ireland’s planned full reopening on October 22nd.

It’s understood that both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail told their parliamentary party that the covid situation is once again extremely serious and that there’s more than 400 people in hospitals around the country with coronavirus.

Martin said that the government is no longer in a position to guarantee the reopening of society as planned for October 22nd. It’s yet another promise made by the government that will be broken should the reopening be scrapped.
