
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced that there is light at the end of the tunnel but that we’re still in the coronavirus tunnel and that we’ve still some way to do.
Varadkar said in the Dail that unfortunately for those who want an immediate return to a pre-covid world will be slow and gradual. The easement will be done in a step-wise tiered manner.
The Taoiseach said that there’ll have to continued effort to suppress the coronavirus and that the government is working on a roadmap to reopen the country but that it’ll be a slow process.
Varadkar said that there are five queries to take into consideration:
The progress of the disease
Healtcare capacity of resilience
Testing and contract testing capacity
The ability to care for at risk groups
The risk of secondary mortality due to the lockdown restrictions
