The Irish Mirror reports that TDs passed a Dáil vote to give themselves a one percent pay rise in the new year.
While the homeless and overcrowding crisis deepens, Leinster House is in line for IT system upgrades and enhanced services for the people’s representatives, who will no doubt cheer the arrival of 2019 with taxpayer-funded drinks at the Dáil bar.
It is up to each TD whether or not to accept the pay rise.
TDs pay was already increased by one percent last October.
