TDs who voted no in referendum left angry as Harris refuses to enter meaningful negotiations over Abortion Bill

A number of TDs have been left angry after the Health Minister Simon Harris allegedly failed to enter meaningful negotiations with them over the Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Bill.

According to RTÉ News, TD’s who voted no to repeal the Eighth Amendment have been left very disappointed by the health minister who is said to have had negotiations with other TD’s and medical professionals over the introduction of the Bill.

It is understood TD’s including Independent deputies Mattie McGrath, Michael Collins, Carol Nolan, Peter Fitzpatrick and Danny Healy-Rae have voiced their concerns following Harris’s apparent snub.

The five TD’s who have said they will respect the will of the public, have said they have not been afforded the opportunity to voice their fears and concerns over the proposed Bill.

They also say Mr Harris is rushing the Bill through the Oireachtas and those in opposition have been left out due to the fact Mr Harris is seemingly only seeking the advice of pro repeal medical professionals.
