The State Examinations Commission have confirmed that teachers and students will wear face masks during this year’s oral examinations.
In an the Minister for Education Norma Foley said that the decision has been take in the interest of student and teachers safety.
The new guidelines will come into effect from this Friday when the exams begin, however there will be exemptions for some students who have already been given permission not to wear masks for medical reasons.
It is expected that the new guidelines will also coincide with current measures which will include social distancing, the use of perspex screens and cleaning measures.
