A teenage girl in the United States who makes teddy bears from the uniforms of policemen who have been killed in the line of duty for the children of these slain officers has been subjected to a campaign of online abuse and death threats in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests.
Recent high school graduate Megan O’Grady is the daughter of a policeman and runs a non-profit Blue Line Bears which sees her, with the help of her family, take the uniforms of fallen police officers and turns them into teddy bears for the surviving family members.
However, after Meghan posted a comment describing how she is heartbroken over the current climate of hatred towards police in the United States following the death of home invading criminal George Floyd she was met with torrents of abuse and hatred.
Black Lives Matter supporters posted messages to the teen girl calling her names not repeatable and wishing death upon her father and family as well as calling her “toxic” and “racist”.
Some of the abusive messages even came from former friends of the teenager.
Ms O’Grady even had to remove the Blue Line Bears messaging from her jeep after she received abuse from other drivers in her hometown of Cape Coral, Florida.
However, the O’Grady family have said they will not be deterred and will continue to support and comfort the family and children of slain police officers.
