Teenager dies after contracting bubonic plague in Mongolia




A teenager has died after contracting bubonic plague in Mongolia.

The incident happened in the Govi-Altai province in recent days. It is understood that the 15-year-old male fell ill shortly after consuming marmot meat.

A quarantine is now in place in the area.

There is no vaccine against bubonic plague but it can be treated with antibiotics if caught in time.
